Permissions
The only permission prompt you’ll see in Rent Party is for notifications, and it comes only after you tap to turn alerts on. Say no and the game plays the same. Below is every permission the Android app and the website use, what each is for, when you’re asked and what happens if you refuse.

Which permissions does the Android app use?
| Permission | What it’s for | When you’re asked |
|---|
| Internet access · android.permission.INTERNET | Online games, signing in, cloud saves, alerts and new versions of the game’s files | Never. Android grants it when you install the app. |
|---|
| Network status · android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Checking whether you’re connected, so the app can tell you when you’re offline | Never. Android grants it when you install the app. |
|---|
| Notifications · android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS | Alerts such as your turn, a pause request, a final call or a game invite | On Android 13 and later, after you tap to turn alerts on |
|---|
| Advertising ID · com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID | Nothing in Rent Party reads it today. It’s declared because our team’s apps may show ads from an ad network in a later version. | Never. Android grants it when you install the app. |
|---|
Before each version of the app goes to Google Play, we check this list against the permissions inside the built app.
About the advertising ID: the only promotions in Rent Party are for our own other apps, and they’re picked without it. If Rent Party ever shows ads from an ad network, the privacy page will say so first.
Which permissions doesn’t it use?
The app doesn’t ask for your camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos or files, text messages or call history; your saved games live in the app’s own storage, which needs no permission.
What does the website ask for?
In a browser, Rent Party asks for one permission: to show notifications once you tap to turn alerts on. The site also tells your browser to block the camera, microphone and location on every page, so it can’t ask for them.
What happens if you say no?
The game plays the same. That holds for both prompts you can refuse: notifications in the Android app and notifications in a browser. Alerts still reach your inbox in Rent Party, and they arrive by email if email alerts are on. To allow notifications later, turn alerts on again in Rent Party’s notification settings; if your phone or browser has stopped asking, allow them for Rent Party in its own settings.
How do you change a permission?
To stop alerts, turn them off in Rent Party’s notification settings, or switch off notifications for Rent Party in your phone’s or browser’s settings. Turning alerts off inside Rent Party keeps this device on file, so switching them back on won’t ask again. Signing out removes this device’s alerts.
